Hello, Christer. I - Metalwolf from beginning webzine "SteelLife" (Russia). I have some questions, concerning KELDIAN. Answer them, please. Hi Metalwolf! This is Chris from Keldian answering your questions. I dropped the numbers, 'cause it was messing up the format on my computer. Sorry. But here we go! Your hobby for space subjects - what lays in its basis. Perhaps, science fiction (Harrisson, Azimov and other masters of the fantastic literature) or sci-fi cinema? Great sci-fi writers: Peter F. Hamilton, Dan Simmons and many others. Check out Hamilton and Simmons, and the book Ring by Stephen Baxter. There's the foundation of Keldian's lyrics. Sadly, there's not a lot of good sci-fi movies, in fact there's not much sci-fi cinema at all! Blade Runner, Alien and 2001 are probably the greatest so far. I'm just waiting for James Cameron's Avatar... What place of Solar system would you like to visit and why? Actually Earth looks like the best place in our solar system! Deserted landscapes of Mars or clouds of Venus? I'm curious to see what we find on Mars, because that's the most likely place to find bacterial life. Do you know they've just landed the Phoenix probe on Mars? It's near the North Pole of the planet, where it's most likely we'll find water and life. That's awesome. If you have met aliens that would ask first of all? Do you want a beer? What you know about the Russian astronautics? Russia is one of the greatest space nations. You were the first to send a man into space, and the MIR station has been a really important platform for space exploration. Cheers, Russia! I just hope you're not tempted to follow in Bush's footprints and put weapons in space. That is a fucking shame, right there... Norway is known black -metal groups. And there was a boom of melodic metal (Keldian, Pagan's Mind, Jorn Lande, etc.). In what difference of the ninetieth from present time? In the 1990s, the only kind of rock the media liked was grunge and neo-punk. Classic melodic metal was so “uncool”... A lot of people in Norway fled to black metal, and great bands came out, like Dimmu Borgir and our friends in Windir and Vreid. These days, anything goes! It's great because the cool police is gone, and you can like whatever you want. So now it's okay for people to admit that they love melodic metal. What you can tell about those places where you live? Arild lives in Oslo, the capital of Norway. I live in Trondheim, a bit further north. We hope to set up camp on the moon in the future. That will be expensive, so please buy our records! What funy things occured during record of albums? We have the funny things on tape! But no one will ever hear it, man. Being in the studio with Keldian is a constantly decaying experience. The jokes, burps, farts and general silliness grows worse every day... We have some great outtakes of Jørn going crazy on the drums, screaming and shouting, trying to get it just right. And me fucking up the singing. How your literary preferences affected texts of albums? In every way! Check the first question. With what groups you would like to play and why? My dream would be to support Iron Maiden. Why? Because they are the greatest band on this planet, and I've been a fan since 1987. What your way that can be at edge of the universe? I'm not sure that the universe has an edge. But a bar would be fine. You saw UFO whether or not? More in detail, if yes. I think everyone has seen a UFO at some point, but that doesn't mean we've all seen a spaceship. Just something you don't quite know what is... I've never seen something I thought was from another world. Hey, there's another thing about Russia: the mysterious big explosion in Tunguska about 100 years ago... With what musicians you would like to work in the future? Can, with somebody from grandees of hard-rock? I love working with Arild and everyone that contributes to the Keldian records. But man, all-star band? Eric Singer on drums, Jason Newsted on bass, Slash and Richie Sambora on guitars, Bruce Dickinson on vocals. Me in the bar. Roswell 47 or Bermood's triangle? Why choose? I want to know what went on in Roswell in 1947. And I also want to know what is constantly going on in the triangle... Mysterious places, for some reason. What heritage will be left after itself mankind on the Earth after will go to stars? Hopefully a planet that is not destroyed. What feelings cover you when you look at the night star sky? Ah... I like the feeling of being small and insignificant. That's a good thing. When the first interstellar expedition will take place, in your opinion? If by interstellar you mean to a different solar system, not in our lifetimes. And why stars and space, instead of those problems which face to the mankind on the Earth? Injustice in a society, poverty, high death rate? People know about those things. We can't change anything by singing about it. Our hope is that mankind will not make the same mistakes in the future. I think our lyrics can give people hope, even if they have a life that sucks right now. And at last if you had opportunity to address to the future trailblazers of the universe, what would you tell on behalf of mankind of 20 centuries? I would play for them 2 speeches given by president John F. Kennedy. “In the final analysis we all share this one planet, we all breathe the same air, we all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal.” And of course: “We are not going to the moon because it is easy, but because it is hard.” Thanks for fine music and good luck in the Future!!! Thank you for great questions, and good luck! |
